Docosahexaenoic acid

Description

Description of Docosahexaenoic acid with associated disease summary

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a precursors of specialized proresolving mediators (SPM) which can modulate inflammatory signaling pathway including mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor-k-lightchain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB) families (Am J Physiol Lung Cell Mol Physiol. (2015)). Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients who cannot resolve inflammation have dysregulated lipid mediator levels and the EBC DHA concentrations in COPD patients are higher than the healthy control (Am J Physiol Lung Cell Mol Physiol. (2015)). Description of disease(s) related to Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA):

Disease summary

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

The EBC DHA concentrations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are higher than the healthy control (Am J Physiol Lung Cell Mol Physiol. (2015)).
