Adenosine 5'-monophosphate

Description

Description of adenosine 5'-monophosphate with associated disease summary

Adenosine monophosphate (AMP) mediates multiple inflammatory cell responses. AMP has been demonstrated to be a potential biomarker of neutrophilic airway inflammation in older children/adults with cystic fibrosis (CF). Although the correlations between purines and airway bronchitis in older children/adults are known, the feasibility and utility of AMP as exhaled breath condensate (EBC) biomarker in young children has not been established. Previous studies have demonstrated that LC-MS/MS method is suitable for quantitative analysis of AMP in the EBC of older population. The EBC samples collected from children <3 years old with CF or other lung diseases during clinically indicated infant pulmonary function tests (iPFTs) were analyzed using the same method. It was demonstrated that EBC from young children undergoing iPFTs can be safely collected. The feasibility of analyzing EBC biomarker AMP was also demonstrated. While promising, additional investigations are needed to validate the association of AMP and lung functions or diseases in infants and preschoolers ( Pediatr Pulmonol. (2013) ). Description of disease(s) related to Adenosine monophosphate (AMP):

Cystic Fibrosis

No significant difference of AMP/adenosine ratio between CF and non-CF groups (P = 0.769) ( Pediatr Pulmonol. (2013) ).

Summary of extracted biomedical information

Adenosine 5'-monophosphate is associated with abnormalities such as Pneumonia, Hyperostosis Frontalis Interna and Intestinal Diseases. The involved biomedical functions are known as inhibitors, adenylate cyclase activity, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, adenylate kinase activity and Exocytosis. The associated genes/proteins with adenosine 5'-monophosphate are MAPK3 gene, ADCY6 gene, ADCY9 gene, ADCY5 gene and GLI3 gene. Adenosine 5'-monophosphate is associated with Amines, quinoxaline, 3-methylquercetin, Chlorides and kaempferol.
