8-OHdG is a marker indicating oxidative damage to DNA. Syslova et al. developed an assay using LC-ESI-MS/MS to detect 8-OHdG and other oxidative stress markers in EBC. Lyophilization was incorporated as a pre-treatment part to rapidly and effectively pre-concentration of these less stable oxidative stress markers prior to subsequent analysis. In 10 male, non-smoker patients with occupational lung disease, either silica- or asbestos-induced disorders (age 69 +/- 8 years), 8-OHdG was significantly elevated (p=0.01) than the matched control group (J Breath Res.
