Description of Potassium with associated disease summary

Potassium (K) is one of the most common elements in the human body. Its presence and concentration influence a wide variety of physiological functions. In a study of EBC elements in patients with Cystic fibrosis (CF). K is identified using inductively-coupled-plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). CF subjects have significantly higher concentrations of K versus healthy controls. However, K⁺ is not regularly detected in all samples. ( Concentration of principle compositions like K element of EBC is not just a reflection of passive transudates. This indicates that they are differentially controlled in CF subjects.
