DL-Tyrosine

Description

Description of DL-Tyrosine with associated disease summary

Tyrosine is an amino acid and can be detected in LC-MS/MS platform. It is used as a standard to normalize the concentration level of other compounds in EBC (Int J Hyg Environ Health. (2014), Int Arch Occup Environ Health. (2010)). After the normalization by dividing the concentrations of tyrosine, concentration levels of several compounds in EBC such as nitrate were changed after welding treatment (Int Arch Occup Environ Health. (2010)). The increase of nitrate concentration in welders may be linked to nitrosative stress. In addition, the concentration of EBC malondialdehyde (MDA) which is generated within autoxidation through reactive oxygen species and can be linked to oxidative stress biomarker decrease if welders could use personal protection equipment (Int Arch Occup Environ Health. (2010)). Description of disease(s) related to tyrosine:

Disease summary

Welding

The concentration levels of EBC nitrate and malondialdehyde (MDA) normalized by tyrosine increased after welding treatment without using personal protection equipment. The increase of nitrate may be linked to nitrosative stress and the increase of MDA may be lined to oxidative stress (Int Arch Occup Environ Health. (2010)).
