Description of neopterin with associated disease summary
Neopterin is a marker of immune response and can be detected by
enzyme immunoassay (EIA) method. In serum, it increased in viral infections patients.
In urine, it is an indicator of sepsis severity. Study by Warwick G et al.
shows that the sputum neopterin is increased in people with the symptoms of a
viral infection. However, no significant difference in EBC neopterin between
people with and without the viral infection (Respirology. (2013)).
