14,15-Leukotriene E4

Description

Description of 14,15-Leukotriene E4 with associated disease summary

Eoxin E4 is one of the end metabolites of Arachidonic acid catabolism of the 15-lipoxigenase pathway that known to be proinflammatory. Sachs-Olsen et al. found in school-aged children (age 6-18) that Eoxin E4/palmitic acid (PA) ratio was significantly increased in asthmatic patients versus healthy controls. In children with bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR), Eoxin E4 level was significantly increased when compared with children without BHR. HPLC-MS/MS was used to quantify eoxins. PA was measured with GC-NICI-MS. PA was used to adjust for EBC dilution, but the level decreased with asthma severity in the asthmatic patients. So both eoxin level and eoxin/PA ratio were reported in this study (J Allergy Clin Immunol. (2010)). Description of disease(s) related to 14,15-leukotriene E4 (eoxins E4):
